The answer isn’t the same for everyone. A studio with little furniture and a friend with a van really can manage without a company. A three-bedroom flat with a washing machine, a fridge and a wardrobe on the fourth floor with no lift — almost never.
Rather than argue that a professional company is always the better choice, we’ll split it by case. We are a moving company and we have an interest in being hired, but the wrong service does nobody any good.
- Few items, ground floor or a lift, no tight deadline — you can do it yourself.
- Heavy appliances, stairs, a short deadline or valuable furniture — a crew with proper kit costs less than one broken item.
- There is a middle option: hire movers only and keep the transport yourself, or the other way round.
When doing it yourself makes sense
When everything fits into one or two van trips, both addresses have a lift or are on the ground floor, you have nothing fragile or very heavy, and you have a full free day plus two or three people who will actually turn up.
In that case a van rental and some patience will cost you less. If all you need is the transport, you can also book our transport service on its own, without movers.
When a company is worth it
When the list includes a washing machine, a large fridge, a piano, a safe or a corner sofa. When it is the fourth floor with no lift. When the deadline is tomorrow. When you are moving an office and every hour of downtime is lost working time. And when the items are such that one breakage costs more than the whole service.
This is not only about strength. A mover with straps and a stair trolley brings a fridge down in ten minutes; two people without equipment take an hour, and take a risk.
The real cost of each option
When you price up a DIY move, add what usually gets forgotten: a full day’s van rental, fuel, parking, boxes and materials, food for the helpers, possibly a day off work, and a second trip if it doesn’t all fit at once.
On the other side, as a rough guide 2 movers with a van in Plovdiv start from €50 per hour with a 2-hour minimum, and 3 movers from €65 per hour. The full rate card is on our Prices page. The gap is often smaller than it looks before you add it up.

The middle option few people think of
You don’t have to pick one extreme. You can pack and declutter yourself and hire a crew only for the carrying day. You can book movers only if you have your own transport. You can hire a van with a driver and do the lifting yourself.
You can also combine two services on the same day — a move plus taking the old things away, for example. For two different services on one day with one crew, we take 10% off the smaller one.
How to check a company before you book
Whichever company you choose, ask the same four things: do they give the price in advance and does it stay the same at the end; do they want a deposit; do they issue an invoice; and do they have real reviews with names, not just stars on their own website.
Ask as well how many people will come and in what vehicle. An answer along the lines of “we’ll see when we get there” usually means the price will also be seen when they get there.
What we do and what we don’t
We work with a permanent crew of about 10 people and 8 vehicles — vans and trucks up to 3.5 tonnes, a tail-lift van and a tipper. The price is given in advance, with no deposit and no commitment. We issue an invoice.
At the moment we don’t offer furniture disassembly or assembly, and we don’t carry goods-in-transit insurance — we say so up front, so you don’t discover it on moving day.

How much does a move with a company cost in Plovdiv?
As a rough guide, from €50 per hour for 2 movers with a van, with a 2-hour minimum. Prices exclude VAT, and we confirm the exact amount after a call or a survey.
Can I hire movers without the transport?
Yes. Movers only are roughly €15–25 per hour per person, also with a 2-hour minimum.
Do you take a deposit?
No. There is no deposit and no commitment — you can cancel at any time.
Do you have goods-in-transit insurance?
No, not at the moment. We work with a permanent crew and proper equipment, but we prefer to say this in advance.
Do you offer free surveys?
Yes, on-site surveys are free in Plovdiv and the surrounding area. For other towns we do a video survey over Viber or quote from photos.
