Moving is rarely cheap, but it can almost always cost less than you expect. A large part of the final bill has little to do with the moving company – it comes down to how much you move, how well it is prepared and how clearly you describe the job in advance.
Here are 9 tips from our crew’s day-to-day work in Plovdiv: things we see every week that genuinely cut working hours, extra trips and moving-day surprises.

What actually drives the cost of a move
Before looking for savings, it helps to know what goes into the price. For a move within Plovdiv, the cost mainly depends on the number of hours and movers, the number of van trips, the floor and whether there is a lift at both addresses, the distance, and heavy items such as a piano, a safe or a large fridge. Packing is an optional extra and is charged separately.

9 ways to pay less
1. Declutter before you pack
The cheapest item to move is the one you leave behind. Old clothes, broken appliances, furniture that won’t fit in the new place – all of it takes up space in the van and time from the crew. Start with the basement, attic and balcony, where most unwanted things tend to pile up.

2. Get a quote based on photos or video
A vague description is the most common reason the final bill differs from what you expected. Send us photos of the larger furniture, the entrance, the staircase and the lift via Viber or WhatsApp. We can also do a video survey over Viber, and in Plovdiv and the surrounding area an on-site survey is free. That way we know in advance how many movers and what kind of vehicle the job needs.
3. Do the packing yourself
Having us pack is convenient, but it is an extra service with its own charge. If you have the time, pack small items, books, clothes and the kitchen yourself. 4. Be completely ready when the crew arrives
When you pay by the hour, every minute of waiting costs money. Boxes should be sealed and labelled, and the route from your flat to the entrance should be clear. Keep a parking spot free for the van as close to the entrance as possible, and if your building has rules for using the lift, sort them out beforehand. 5. Take furniture apart in advance
At the moment we don’t offer furniture disassembly or assembly. If a wardrobe or bed won’t fit through the door in one piece, take it apart beforehand, yourself or with a handyman. The crew won’t lose time, and you won’t pay for waiting.
6. Mention every difficulty up front
A fifth floor with no lift, a narrow staircase, a piano or a corner sofa – all of these affect the price, but they push it up far more if we only find out on arrival. When we know in advance, we send the right number of people and the right equipment, and the price stays as agreed.
7. Choose the right number of movers
It sounds odd, but more people can end up cheaper. As a rough guide, 2 movers with a van in Plovdiv start from €50 per hour, while 3 movers start from €65 per hour. If the third person saves an hour or two, the total comes out lower. Tell us what you are moving and we will suggest a sensible option, not the biggest one.
8. Do everything on one day
Hourly services have a 2-hour minimum, and transport has a minimum charge too. If you move things in several small batches, you pay the minimum each time. It is better value to combine jobs – the move, carrying items upstairs and taking away old furniture – on the same day, with one crew and one vehicle. Larger jobs may also qualify for better rates.
9. Book early
We can usually be with you within about 2 days, but on busy days the free slots fill up fast. Calling early gives you a choice of day and time that suits you, so you don’t have to look for an out-of-hours slot.
When saving money isn’t worth it
Some shortcuts end up costing more. Carrying a fridge, a piano or a heavy cabinet down the stairs without proper straps and trolleys is risky for your belongings and for your back.
