Moving Checklist – What to Do and When

Moves rarely go wrong because of heavy furniture. They go wrong because of the small things forgotten until the last day — electricity at the new address, a free lift, keys, a box with the essentials. We have put everything into one checklist, week by week. Tick items off right here or print it and stick it on the fridge.

3–4 weeks beforePlanning

Choose a moving date.Saturdays and the start of the month get booked first — pick a weekday if you can.

Ask for a moving quote.Send a video or photos via Viber — often that is enough for a price. For bigger moves we come for a free survey in Plovdiv and the surrounding area.

Get rid of what you do not need.Sell, give away or throw out what you do not want to move. Every extra box costs time and money.

Measure large furniture and the doors of the new home.Sofa, wardrobe, fridge — will they fit through the door, the hallway and the lift?

1–2 weeks beforePreparation

Start packing things you do not use every day.Books, seasonal clothes, decorations, spare dishes.

Label every box by room.For example “Kitchen – fragile”. That way the team carries it straight to the right place.

Arrange electricity, water and internet at the new address.Internet providers often need a few days to connect you.

Check parking and the lift at both addresses.Is there space for a van at the entrance? Do you need to warn the building manager or neighbours?

2–3 days beforeFinal preparations

Defrost and dry the fridge.Otherwise it will leak during transport.

Empty wardrobes and drawers.Full furniture is heavier and breaks more easily.

Take photos of the TV and computer cables before unplugging.Reconnecting then takes minutes, not an hour.

Put documents, valuables and medicines in a separate bag.This bag travels with you, not in the van.

The day beforeFirst-night box

Prepare a “first night” box.Chargers, medicines, toiletries, bed sheets, towels, a kettle, some food and water.

Confirm the time with the team.Tell us if anything has changed — floor, address, extra items.

Clear the hallway and the entrance.The clearer the path, the faster and safer the day goes.

On the dayMoving day

Be there at the start and at the end.Show what goes and what stays, and at the new address — which room is which.

Check cupboards, the basement and the balcony before leaving.This is when things get forgotten.

Note the electricity and water meter readings at both addresses.A photo on your phone is enough.

After the moveSettling in

Check your furniture and belongings.If something is wrong, say so right away while the team is still there.

Unpack the kitchen and the bedroom first.The rest can wait a few days.

Update your address wherever it is registered.For example with your bank, your employer, couriers and subscriptions — so letters and parcels do not get lost.

Frequently asked questions

When should I start preparing for a move?

Three to four weeks is enough for a flat. For a house or an office, give yourself five to six weeks.

How long does moving a flat take?

A two-bedroom flat usually takes 4–6 hours with a crew of 2–3 movers, if everything is packed in advance. It is charged by the hour, with a 2-hour minimum.

Do I need to be at the address during the move?

Yes, it helps to have someone at both addresses to say what goes where. Otherwise unpacking takes longer than the move itself.

How far in advance should I book?

We can usually be with you within about 2 days. On busy days the free slots fill up fast, so calling early gives you a choice of day and time.

What should I not load into the van?

Personal documents, title deeds, jewellery, medication and keys go with you. They are the one thing with no backup.
